I have been interested in the movie Fantastic Mr. Fox since it was released in theaters. Then I found out that it was based on a book from Roald Dahl, who also wrote James and the Giant Peach and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Since Hannah loves the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so much, I thought she might enjoy reading The Fantastic Mr. Fox. She was resistant, but we ended up reading it in one day. And then we wanted to see the movie. Last night, be checked it out from the library.
It is a little different from the book, but just as enjoyable. But that could be because I have a thing for stop motion movies. I had heard that it was not a movie for kids, but I think if you have read the book with your children, then the movie would be an interesting addition to the story.
This is something that I actually enjoy doing with Hannah. We read the books that movies are based on. We've read Shrek, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, How to Train Your Dragon, and we're starting on reading James and the Giant Peach.
What are some of your favorite books that have been made into movies?
